Faced with the reality of
the pathetic situation of Mathare, it was only the Lord who
has seen us through the years to be able to reach out in love,
touching the lives and meeting the needs of the Mathare people
and winning them to Christ.
A church had been
established to met the needs – both spiritual and physical.
Thus Redeemed Gospel Church was born with its head office in
the Valley. This church is an independent Pentecostal Church
which has adopted evangelism, blended with social concern, as
a wholistic approach for the total man – body, soul and spirit
– to meet the needs of the Mathare Valley
community.
The vision of the founder
was then and now is, to reach the lost souls with the Gospel.
From the valley the church has stretched her ministry to
every town within the country. Most of the crusades and
evangelistic outreach meetings held in Nairobi by foreign
missionaries and national church leaders, have a link with
this church. The church conducts an average of two crusades
monthly within the country with an average of attendance
between 5,000 and 20,000 thousand people. Singing groups with
musical instruments (what our local newspapers termed as
sophisticated) minister in gospel songs in every crusade. For
